Jeepers Creepers (film series)

The Jeepers Creepers series includes four American horror films. Victor Salva wrote and directed the first three, while Timo Vuorensola directed the fourth. The main villain is the Creeper, a demonic serial killer played by Jonathan Breck in the first three movies and by Jarreau Benjamin in the fourth. The first film, which starred Gina Philips and Justin Long, did well at the box office in 2001. Critics gave it mixed reviews, and it earned a Saturn Award nomination for Best Horror Film. The second movie also made money, but later entries were not well liked.

The first movie follows Trish Jenner and her brother Darry as they drive home from college in Florida. They see a truck driver dumping bodies into a pipe near an old church. Darry investigates and finds a lair full of corpses. At a diner, a woman named Jezelle Gay Hartman calls to warn them that the driver is the Creeper, an ancient demon that hunts and eats people every twenty-three years for twenty-three days. The siblings go to a police station, where Jezelle repeats her warning. The Creeper attacks, captures Darry, and flies away, leaving Trish in shock.

In the second film, the Creeper kidnaps Billy Taggart on its twenty-second day of feeding. His father Jack and older brother Jack Jr. are horrified. The next day, the Creeper disables a school bus carrying a basketball team by shooting out its tires with handmade shurikens. Cheerleader Minxie Hayes gets visions of Billy and Darry and tells the students the Creeper will hibernate after its twenty-third day. The creature abducts the bus driver and two coaches, then kills several students. The Taggarts find the bus, and Jack shoots the Creeper in the head with a harpoon. The Creeper enters hibernation before dying, leaving Jack unsatisfied. Twenty-three years later, an elderly Jack keeps the Creeper on his farm as a sideshow attraction, waiting for it to revive so he can kill it.

The third film begins with Kenny Brandon watching a man cut off the Creeper’s hand before being taken. Twenty-three years later, Sheriff Dan Tashtego and Sergeant Davis Tubbs investigate the Creeper after Darry’s abduction. Kenny’s mother Gaylen has a vision of her son, who warns her to leave because the Creeper is hunting for its severed hand, which holds clues to its identity.
