The *Anaconda* film series, sometimes called *Anacondas*, is an American horror franchise created by Hans Bauer, Jim Cash, and Jack Epps Jr., with distribution handled by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It kicked off with the 1997 film *Anaconda*, and later expanded to include one standalone theatrical sequel, *Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid* (2004), three made-for-television sequels—*Anaconda 3: Offspring* (2008), *Anacondas: Trail of Blood* (2009), and the crossover *Lake Placid vs. Anaconda* (2015, which blends this series with the *Lake Placid* films). Every installment focuses on enormous, man-eating anacondas and the attempts by different groups to catch or kill them. Recurring elements across the films include the fictional Blood Orchid plant, the pharmaceutical company Wexel Hall, and the Murdoch family.
